What SSDs can I use with the B1200i?

Drobo B1200i SSD Compatibility

The Automated Data-Aware Tiering technology in the B1200i utilizes up to three enterprise-class SSDs to maximize performance, while the SATA/SAS drives ensure maximum capacity and handling of bulk or streaming loads.

As long as the B1200i is using 1.1.0 or newer firmware, any Enterprise-Class SSD should function correctly with the array. Click here for detailed info on choosing the correct drives for your B1200i.

NOTE: The B1200i is not compatible with Sandforce-based SSDs such as Intel 330, Intel 520, Corsair Force 3. For more details on this, please read this article

Ensure that you are using the latest firmware and Dashboard software and that you have this article on ensuring proper performance.

Remember that, by default, the Drobo B1200i Dual-Disk-Redundancy enabled, so three SSDs must be used, in order to take advantage of the auto-tiering capabilities of the Drobo B1200i. Click here for more information.

Known Incompatible SSDs

Drobos are not compatible with Sandforce-based SSDs such as Intel 330, Intel 520, Corsair Force 3. For more details on this, please read this article

Most SSDs above are only available in a 2.5” form factor, while the Drobo B1200i drive bays only accept 3.5” drives. To use 2.5” drives in a Drobo, you will need to acquire a carrier to convert it to 3.5”. Drobo has tested the solutions from Icy Dock and their full metal products work well, specifically, products such as:
